Why an unlocked processor with an H61 motherboard?
Lack of thinking at the time and just forgetting that not all Intel chipsets can overclock.
Maybe we inteded for him to upgrade the motherboard later I don't thats about the best excuse I got.
MS Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit | AMD Athlon II X4 635 | 4.00 GB Dual-Channel DDR3 | BIOSTAR Group A880GU3 | ASUS VH238 | 1024MB GeForce GTX 550 Ti (Gigabyte) | 313GB Western Digital WDC WD3200AAJB-00J3A0 | TSSTcorp CDW/DVD TS-H492A | Realtek High Definition Audio
So I pointed him to a mobo, CPU, and RAM upgrade
His GPU is a 560 (non ti)
Any ideas?
He has $300 to spend

No change but I might thrown in some thermal paste and a better cooler for the ability to overclock.

You can't overclock with an H series chipset. You need a P or Z series chipset to do that and a good one costs at least $100.

As an alternative why not just buy this and drop it in.
