Ive just been wondering why alot of people on this forum try to steer others away from gaming laptops. Many people have been saying dont buy a gaming laptop they suck, or there unreliable, or laptops were never built for gaming.... ect. But i kind of disagree with that, i would say alot of laptops are built just for gaming: an example being the ASUS G74SX. The asus could beat many medium grade gaming desktops. Heres the laptop: http://www.pro-star.com/index.cfm?mainpage=productdetail&model=G74SX-DH72
Im looking at this laptop simply from a specs point of view, if people have the money the price is irrelevant. And some of you might say well people could just buy a stronger gaming desktop for less, and your probably right but some people want to have portability. they want to be able to take there laptop over to there friends house and play.
There is nothing wrong with laptops they are just more expensive than desktops and the cooling can be much worse. If you have the cash i would say go for it but you could get a desktop that is almost 4 times better than that for the same price.

no im not getting that one i have another laptop im getting, but ive seen alot of people in this section persuading people to buy desktops instead of laptops and i was just wondering why? besides the fact that a desktop will offer more peroformance for less $

Mainly because to get a laptop with the same performance as a good gaming desktop you will have to pay much much more and the cooling will be worse. I don't like laptops myself because i am poor and don't really need to game on the go but if that's what you are into and have the money go for it

Price is relevant. If someone has 2k to thrown down, they can probably find a gaming laptop, but the majority of the people on here have a budget of under 1k. For under 1k, you get much better bang for your buck if you make your own desktop, rather than buying a laptop. That's why.

Simply because most people who want a gaming laptop are on a budget and won't make full use of the mobility. There's nothing wrong with gaming laptops, they are just a bit expensive.

well actually with the paticular laptop i chose as an example it has some of the best cooling for any laptop built for gaming

well ik, im on a huge budget less then $1000, but like for people who have the money to buy one of them it is irrelevant, if they want a laptop we should suggest laptops not desktops

But it will never have the same cooling as a desktop just because of the confined space.
This is the correct answer.
