GTX 560 1GB is overpriced and is even beat out by the GTX 460. A real upgrade would be a Radeon HD 6950 1GB or GTX 560 Ti, but the price to performance ratio starts to dip.
Should I just go with a GTX 460? I feel a little more comfortable buying an Nvidia, I don't really know why. Which one should I get? On Newegg there are ones going for $160 and ones going for $190 and I can't see any differences.
Okay I just switched some stuff around on Newegg, here is what I switched to my cart:
MSI 970A-G45 AM3+ AMD 970 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX AMD Motherboard
XFX HD-687A-ZDFC Radeon HD 6870 1GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.1 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFireX Support Video Card with Eyefinity
Patriot Gamer 2 Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333 (PC3 10666) Desktop Memory Model PGD38G1333ELK
These were part of combos, so suprisingly my cost is still at $722.41, but now I have a 6870 and a motherboard that's apparently good for gaming. My original plan was to get 4gb RAM instead of 8 to save some money, but then again I was saving $40 without rebate from bundling it with my other motherboard.
Well the gtx560 2gb is like $230 on Newegg, so it's out of my price range for now. I might be able to squeeze in a $200 card, I just don't know. I haven't told my parents about this yet, because I want to have this totally planned out when I tell them. They won't be very happy that I'm asking to buy $800 of computer parts and games...
Okay if I just go with this: G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model F3-12800CL9D-4GBRL , that will leave me with enough budget to get a ~$220-$230 video card, what should I get? And are you guys absolutely positive that I won't need 8GB RAM? That is the only thing that I'm sorta uncomfortable getting is just going with 4GB, and then finding out in 6 months that I'll need more. The only plus to this is that RAM is quite cheap, it's only around $50 to get 8 GB, but would It be possible to just get like two more 2GB sticks to add on to make it 8, or is that not how RAM works?
EDIT: I have heard some pretty bad things about GTX 550's, 560's and so on, so should I try to squeeze in a $240 Radeon 6950?
I think you are confusing the GTX550 and 560 with the GTX560 ti. The GTX 560 ti is the one you want out of those 3. The HD 6950 is certainly the better card out of this bunch. For Nvidia GPU's i would stay away from XFX and go with EVGA or MSI.
As for the RAM, 4GB should be enough. If you feel you need more RAM, you can add more at anytime.
How much better does the 560 ti do against the regular 560? And how much better is it than just a 460?
EDIT: Should I just get this

Okay, I'm just gonna go with the one that I said above. I'm changing my RAM to G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model F3-12800CL9D-4GBRL . If anyone sees anything that I should change for the better, please tell me. I will try to tell my dad this weekend, and hopefully we can work this out. Now I just gotta get back to selling legos...wohoo...Oh btw my bow sold on ebay for $125, they got a really good deal, we were hoping it would go for more, but atleast that's some more money to add to the fund. We were freaking out earlier when my dad saw that some of his old HESS toy trucks from when he was my age were on ebay for thousands of dollars, but unfortunately the ones that we have are the only ones that aren't valuable :sad.gif: . Oh well.

Use your lego to build a case. Saves you a lot of money.

The GTX 560 is a re-branded version of the GTX 460, same shader cores but just with higher stock clocks. The 560 Ti has a redesigned GPU Core, Higher Stock Clock, can be overclocked better and has 384 Shader Cores, compared to the 336 Shader Cores that the GTX 560 and 460 have. So the GTX 560 Ti is the true successor to the GTX 460.

You'd save a few dollars if you just went with 1333MHz RAM, since there is no speed difference between 1333MHz RAM and 1600MHz RAM.
No
Thinking about coming a mod to simply not moderate.

You good sir, are the next Thomas Edison. Great idea! But I'm not going to do that because it wouldn't suprise me if they melt.
They won't melt as long as you direct the air flow correctly.
I can't believe you guys are even slightly serious about this.

I've built a Mini-ITX case with lego's before. Of course, that required me to spend some money, but it's fashionable.
