Nice icon Nitrous! I too just changed my icon, and Google finally fixed the uploading channel art thing on youtube, so I put that there too, because I am too lazy to draw an icon right now, I might do one later. On my channel, the banner type thingy was drawn though.
Well that makes it even better because you've gone and cloned an account.
Maybe..... Nahh The name actually comes from the old MMO Star wars Galaxies I've kept the name in use because I had some good times and the name has really come to be an identity for me. That and its nice and catchy easy to shorten and simple enough for everyone to pronounce, not like my Fursona name which I can barely even spell
Heh, been a while since I last came here. I'm noticing a trend. Before I "officially" became a furry by joining FA, I made like 1 or 2 furry pieces a month if that. Now it's basically only furries that I draw, maybe a spaceship or gun here and there, my stack is piling nicely. I've been hanging around the FA forums for a solid couple months and I can say I really like the community.
I remember a long time ago someone on another forum said I wasn't a furry because I only drew art, and didn't have a fursuit. I could easily deny that now, because most furries do not have a suit in the sense that either they don't want one, are too expensive, or maybe are against it. Heh, I'd love to come back in his face now and tell him I'm a furry, and see if he still denies it. Then I'll break it to him: for me, a suit has become a serious consideration, to the point where when I'm living on my own I set a little money aside specifically towards a suit.
I've been without a computer for some time because I'm grounded, but I know one of the first things I'm gonna do is jump onto Paint.NET and start turning my stack of sketches into digital pieces. I not only have pictures, but also some writing! I've been writing stories since I was a kid, silly at first but now are becoming more serious. In fact I'd almost consider my latest story, The Legend of Maggi, to be a novel out of my bunch, with many chapters and a few parts. I'd go as far as calling it my magnum opus.
Just came to spout off furry stuff. I love what it is and I love what it has. I love it's many communities and personalities. I truly believe that the furry fandom is the best thing that happened to my personal life.
Well, glad to hear it! I will be looking forward to what you may put out.
I, myself, am thinking about joining FA, but I'm not so sure about it. I don't exactly consider myself a furry... I don't know... it feels more complicated for me .
Also, did everyone just go in lurk mode there? I know I did. It was kinda sad to see the thread on the second page in my content.
In other news... More player models updated to 1.7
...It doesn't work too well with my new skin...
It was strange we had our most active day in a long time but then no one posted anything, I didn't want to double post so I couldn't really say anything. Not that I have much to contribute to the conversation though...
Oh yes I nearly forgot about skin updates! I can't wait to add the new layers to Scar (who already looks pretty good). I think I'm gonna floof his chest and shoulder fur, separate the wings from the arms, separate the tail from the body, maybe add 3D paws for the feet.
Of course that's just my skin, I can't wait to play around with textures in general! I'm almost always changing my modified Faithful from Vattic.
As I said on a Reddit comment there: "The only place where I've ever seen furry hate is in anecdotes at places like this.". I personally have never 'come out' as being a furry because I was never hiding it in the first place. I've never told anyone that I'm furry but they've all see my desktop and phone wallpapers and the art I've browsed. I'm not sure if it is a result of me not making a big deal about being furry or not but I've never received any kind of hate about it. I've been bullied many times but being a furry has never been one of the reasons. I can see how some people can be rejected for being a furry but that would probably hardly ever happen so I don't quite see what all the 'no one must ever know' fuss is all about.
This sounds a lot like me. I don't really indentify as a furry but hey, that's mostly the sort of stuff I like to draw and spend a decent amount of time browsing art of. I just really like anthro characters, I have a bit of trouble interacting with people but I do pretty well with animals, so animal people, why not?
As for bullies, if they want to bully you, they will find a reason. Too fat, too thin, too tall or short, ginger, furry, brony, nerd, whatever.
The only people I've met that actually know what a furry is ARE Furries and when I explain what a furry is to other people they really don't care that much. While I admit I've never gone to a public place wearing a furry t-shirt or partial fursuit I can't imagine any one taking offense to it if I did. I once wore a patriots shirt to a school completely for the broncos and not one person said a thing. I feel people are more tolerant and understanding these days and anyone else is really just ignorant or mis-informed.
I'm not sure if it's tolerance or that they just don't care all that much. It might be one and the same at this point. I went to high school with a few people that would wear tails and ears and they never got much trouble for it (aside from teachers who were uppity about dress code stuff in general). I can see it being a problem if you're running around making animal noises and your shirt has suggestive furry artwork on it or something, but I have only seen people do that a handful of times in my entire life, and I think in a couple cases it was being done in an ironic or satirical fashion.
Only if you take it to a weird level or are demanding attention as a furry is when you might get some negative reactions, but that's normal. People that take things to a weird level are generally shunned and same with the ones that demand attention.
I find those sort of people to be unbearable myself. You want a medal for being a furry? Where's my medal for being a cartoon artist?
That might just be Special Snowflake Syndrome in general, though, I find those sort of people also tend to be very stubborn and opinionated on other subjects as well.

Funny "you aren't a real furry" experiences I've had: I've been told I can't be a furry because I don't like the NSFW stuff. Just doesn't interest me. I don't show massive amounts of pride in having a fetish, either. The funniest one was someone telling me I can't be a furry because I DO draw, and I don't commission popular artists and repost the work to my gallery. What?
Oh, and the whole "you don't go to cons" and "you don't fursuit" ones come up too. I think those are honestly really funny.

I'd rather not start a flamewar, but hey, it's something that we might be able to discuss. When I was looking for alternatives to DeviantArt because I wanted to spread out a bit (DA is sorta like Youtube, it's not perfect but it's the biggest site and the one everyone knows when it comes to art) I seriously considered FA. Many of my friends recommended it. But after looking into it, how outdated it is and how poorly it's run and how there's always some sort of drama going, I realized there's no way I could make myself start an account there. Probably a good decision, things went insane over there recently I hear because of some staffing decisions and stuff. Meh. If it works for you, more power to ya.
You might also want to check out Weasyl. It's still in beta, still doesn't have too many active users, but it's really picking up and I really like it so far.
Of course, if you aren't on DA yet, that's a good place to have an account. It has a bad rap at times but that's really only if you get involved with drama and fanart and massive circlejerks. It's also got a far better variety of things to look at since it's for all sorts of art. I love looking at photography, especially landscapes, trees, mushrooms, aquatic life and cityscapes.
And, before I forget, tree #2 looks the best to me as well.
It was strange we had our most active day in a long time but then no one posted anything, I didn't want to double post so I couldn't really say anything. Not that I have much to contribute to the conversation though...
Lurk mode, more like "I fell out of the check MCF frequently" habit a while back. Sorry about that. Between real-life stuff, making art and browsing art, kinda been neglecting many of the sites I used to check.
I should check more often so I don't go all textwall on everyone once a week...

I'm pretty excited about the new skin updates, especially that they now allow for different arms and legs to be textured differently. Your Scar skin sounds interesting, could I see it? (I'm not an artist at all, [which I think I've stated numerous times here, but oh well. :P] but I do still like to see cool stuffs. :))

I have him as my avatar, and also uploaded in a different picture on FA (same username as here)
Man! Where did everybody go??!?
Did everyone leave to go to some official furry site or something? Wow, what a shame, I really liked this community here, and I'm not sure if I will fit in on the official furry sites because, I don't consider myself a furry (Other people say I am, so I guess it's up to interpretation).
Well, uh... how about some art? By the way, I drew this in school. No furry hate what so ever, many were even interested. So ,uh... thoughts on this contradiction to the common mood of the community?
I was also messing around with different styles of eyes, what do you think?

Oh, well good to know. You know, after a lot of though (I freaked out that the thread was dying okay!), I decided to check out some other furry sites, and I found a pretty cool one. Their forums seem a little more active than FA, and the community is pretty nice, but it's not that big though.
Here's the link if you want to check it out: http://www.furryteens.org/index.php
It's mainly targeted towards ages 13-21 or something like that, but there are some older people there. (I don't even have a clue about that whole, 'this site is for people from this age to that age' thing)
Anyways, More art! This is my soon-to-be new profile picture. It will be going on here and my account on furry teens, and on my twitch page (I think it will look cool there).
I just need to colour it and then it should be done... That is if it doesn't turn out terrible. If it does, then I'll keep it as it is (I'm conserned because there is going to be a lot of minor details that I have to colour [such as the arrows]).

Even if does not turn out good, so what? Practice is learning. Failure leads to success which has proven itself infinite times. I would not really say the arrow is a minor detail. Minor details to me tend to be revolving around skin wrinkles or fur ruffles or the wood grain on the bow. Just rem it is practice, it depends on your own personal choices.
Though while that is rather done well. I would say if you could cleanup the lines a bit and AA them for an overall better look. Vector Line it is best way to go if you do not have an tablet or skilled enough to fountain pen ink with a tablet pen.
I guess I'm a furry. I mostly just mess around with a few characters and I might do a story at some point.
Just remember though you do not have to "attach" a title to yourself though.
I do not really do much art now a days, and rarely non equine fur art. Motivation is key aspect and the fact I can be relatively slow and time is not always good. I did a recent thing for someone and just got their permission to put it online, but under some rules set by the owner. I cannot tell nothing about the character, for I was forbidden to do such.
My painting skills were rusty and still are, it was a months time between my last painting and this one. It shows unfortunately as I had to redo this for first outcome was unsatisfying. But the two people were painted even if was a valentines gift of no cost yet offered to pay, but I do not do that.
... I have no idea what 'AA' is... or any of that other stuff for that matter...
But thanks for the support!
...Y-you know I do everything by hand right...?
Well, anyways, I was just saying, if it didn't turn out good, I was just going to use the other one, but I was still going to colour it., and the reason I gave the arrow as a minor detail, was because I was referring to how it would be hard to colour in such a small area with the stubby colour pencils o' mine. But, not to worry! It turned out just fine!
... You seem to know a lot about those programs... could you give me some advice on what I can do to restore the stuff I scan? It's well know that scanners lower the quality of the photo scanned (we have a lot of really neat technology now, and still we have cr@q scanners). All I do now is lower the brightness and up the contrast by 20.

There is a fair bit of roughness with your lines, unless that is how you want them. But I know you do traditional and well even I can say I never was good at that. So it is just a idea if ever wanted, scan your sketch, use vector lines in program of your choice and then print off on a clean sheet of paper your inking and color at will if you want pure smooth lines that are in a fountain pen design/look. What I have witnessed a lot of artists do. But each is to their own.
Play as you want, no need to take anyone's advice there. Do how you want.

I only use 1 program mainly being Paint Tool SAI. I sorta rarely use Photoshop and Gimp to do other tiny things. I do not know really how one restores the digital clarity of an image that was traditionally made and scanned. Most people I know have a setup and a DSLR or high quality camera to take an high resolution picture most of the time.
Playing around with contrast, saturation and brightness till colors are similar to what you have on real paper is best I could say. Any photo manipulation program can do this though mostly.
I've been doing a fanart piece as of late. I started it a few days ago and did final refinements a couple days ago. I'm actually really proud of this sketch too, I had to question if I really drew it. I started with the crown and was "meh, usual quality" then I did the hair and was like "daaaaamn did I draw that?" Then the whole piece turned out amazing.
For those unsure, this is Narissa from the webcomic Zoophobia. If you want to check it out, she has almost 500 pages (I think that's how the page IDs work). If you get to the end, don't expect much for a while. The creator, Viv, has been working on her thesis for some time.
I drew Narissa because she's one of my favorite characters as far as design goes. If "smooth as f***" had a definition, it's her; the wife of Satan.

One can be surprised what they can do, without realizing it. I have surprised myself plenty of times with stuff I paint. Just draw as free and not worry of errors or distractions is how I found to do it most of the time.
Unfortunately I know nothing of that comic or character. Really lost interest reading those long ongoing never ending (part say) ones. But the sketch is rather good if I can say. But my traditional abilities are poor, never could learn. May just been teacher and resources though, self teaching seems far better...
The creator, Viv, has been working on her thesis for some time.
They will never be the same again. Mentally damaged by such arrogant thing to exist. I watched a friend tear themselves apart as their master's thesis was never apparently "good" enough. So they went without an thesis.

They will never be the same again. Mentally damaged by such arrogant thing to exist. I watched a friend tear themselves apart as their master's thesis was never apparently "good" enough. So they went without an thesis.
