Hello people of the internet and so on. It's been a while since coming here on the gaming section. I want a good co-op game me and a friend or my brother can play together.
Wants/Needs:
Must be on steam
30$ under
RPG/sci-fi/made for co-op
Sandbox
Something like FTL
Must not be a FTP game that is practically a play to win
Not realm of the mad god
Will run well on a PC not made for gaming
I would LIKE an early alpha game, so the community is small and friendly and updates will come.
I know about Minecraft obviously, just something easier.
Borderlands 2 COULD work, but idk if it would run well.
Thank you, have a wonderful day

Minor dupstep... Doomsday. DUBWUBWUBWUB, WUBDUBDUBDUB, DUMDUMUMDUM, WUBWUBWUBWUB!
Diablo 2 and torchlight series are the ones I can think of. A free but kinda repitive one is the Valve title Alien Swarm its fun though has a ranking system as well.
The upcoming games from the same devs who made Dead Island are both co-op as well and they look interesting but with dead island just be cautious.
Hey, guys. Quote me if you want me to respond. Otherwise I'll have no idea what the hell you want with me.
Friend Code: 1263-6258-8121 (Poison)
Friend Safaris: Poison: Swalot, Whirlipede, Seviper.
I second this. Great co-op. You wanna wait for the DLC to go on sale, not worth the prices imo.
I personally got all the DLC with an earlier Humble Bundle. Which OVERLOADED me with stuff. "I'm going to start this game!" "Oh. I have tons of super-powerful items that I'm not high enough level to use taking up chest space."
I'm looking closely at Torchlight II and Dungeon Defenders.
I seem to want torchlight II more, but must I own the original first to get some sort of plot?
Also, I can stand Dungeon Defenders. It does look fun, but I am just saying Torchlight looks a bit better to me if I want a topdown view game, but if I want a plain third person, obviously Dungeon Defenders.

ARPGs(like Torchlight, and Diablo) usually have weak(er) stories, so you can just read some Torchlight 1 summary if you really do care about the plot. I think Torchlight 2 will you give you more replayability since it seems to be a bit long, and there's a NG+. Dungeon Defenders gets a bit grindy at level 70-100 and you're pretty much forced to get a DLC to unlock a super hard difficulty you need to level up with.
Moanco. It's a retro looking game where you plan your hiest. it's 1-4 players, where you choose classes, and steal to get the best time. Seriusly awesome.

Yes, it's pretty much a sandbox game. You can build maps and play maps, but within the maps, your free to do whatever you want. Aslo, search it up on youtube.
I just prefer steam, as I would get Cube World, my computer is not compatible.
CubeWorld is a great example of how not to make an RPG. Mindless, repetitive, no kind of purpose anywhere - the procedural voxel terrain isn't all that intriguing either, and seems to be primarily a hype mechanism.

Well sorry that it looks fun to me. Early access, updating, tons of enemies/mob, tamable and rideable pets, boss battles, infinite map, randomly generated map, sometimes epic terrain, blowing up stuff to mine in caves, get epic loot, play as 4 different classes, it looks pretty damn good as an RPG to me.

I think he's talking about the endgame. I hear it gets really boring at the end, but again, its in Alpha so it should definitely be addressed.
As someone who's played the game, let me tell you - all of them are just copypastes of one another in terms of attributes. There's nothing new or exciting about any of them save the bosses, which just have a crapton of health.
Nope, just regular enemies supersized with more health and devastating attacks. More of an elite mook trope invocation there. Did I mention they are in areas with other enemies who will respawn before you can even hope to take them down? Bloody annoying fighting six guys behind you while Mr. SOOPER BUFF in front of you is knocking your HP down in swaths. I'd say it gets better in MP, but it doesn't - the game merely multiplies their hp and (not sure about this) attack damage for each player, meaning it's just as tedious.

Infinite? Yes. Randomly generated? Yes. Epic terrain? Hell no. You've seen one instance of a biome, you've seen them all. It's rather like Minecraft in that regard.

No, what you've described makes a neutered sandbox. FFXII is a good RPG. Diablo is a good RPG. Cubeworld is just a procedural voxel generator with generic RPG mechanics tacked on, and fails to even do that right. The entire game consists of just grinding, grinding, grinding - and for what? If you were playing a good RPG, it'd be to become stronger to take out this eccentric bad guy that threatens all you know and love. You're working towards a goal. Cubeworld is, well, you're just there, killing enemies, getting better at certain skills, but there's absolutely nowhere to apply them. There's no reason to level up and kill the same enemy six times in as many minutes...you're just grinding for the sake of grinding. It's one massive circlejerk. I will not begrudge you that you may have fun with your friend(s) for a game or two, but after that you'll start to question the point of it all.

There is no end...it just goes on forever and ever. I don't see this as being the launchpad for anything magnificent, to be honest. It could make like Minecraft and implement some traditional factions gameplay so there's actually a point to playing the game, but as it stands it just isn't worth the asking price. Overhyped title, just get it after the features start rolling in and (hopefully) the creator comes to his senses and lowers the pricetag. And maybe re-evaluate his fascist stance towards modding as well.

Might want to check out Starmade as well.

Although I do recommend Spelunky, but it doesn't meet the requirements

More multiplayer than you'd know what to do with.

I looked at a playtrough of Spelunky from Millbee, looked quite fun, but it is only local CO-OP, but I can play with my brother, so maybe.

Starbound isn't out yet, is it?

You act like this is a good thing. Have fun with the bugs still peeping about while still giving the creator money...sounds like a good deal, ja?
What recent game doesn't update on a regular basis?

Can only have one out at a time, need a certain tier 2 skill to even ride them, if I recall correctly. Yay, grinding!

You can deform the terrain, but are very limited in doing so. I've yet to see planting bombs in caves argued as a legitimate mining tactic.
...are there games out there that don't reward you for defeating enemies with loot? There's nothing particularly special about what CW awards you.
