Speelf is a mini game that minecraft players came up with in Classic
Does it really matter? Minecraft (possibly) came up with it but Fortresscraft refined it into a full gamemode. It's kind of like guns in games, shooters may have been invented in the 80's but we all know modern shooters have much better bullet physics.

No, there has never, ever been a sandbox game with a story or ending... except Grand Theft Auto... and Saints Row... and Red Dead Redemption... and Crack Down... and Assassins Creed...
Interestingly, the game mode itself is almost identical to the Discs of Tron section from the 1982 film Tron. #ThereAreNoOriginalIdeas
Spleef should be renamed.

Out of curiosity, does anyone here have any particularly awesome Minecraft builds that they feel are better than anything FortressCraft can do?
I have a challenge for anyone who truly believes that. :-)

Hi there, I bought FC looking for a game similar to Minecraft for a console. Of course, it's a decent game and it quite fun but I believe the way you're handling this in an immature way. Please do not take this as an insult but only as criticism. The facts you are pointing out are not very valid. Of course FC has better building features than Minecraft, Minecraft uses a block system each block taking up a 16x16 space, making it impossible to have small details. While Minecraft went for the survival-style and build-your-shelter charm, FC was focused on building. I don't think it's right to say FortressCraft is better for building. While this is completely true, Minecraft was not so focused on small details and such. Also, while you may have had a fallback onto Minecraft, Minecraft started out as an indie alpha game adding new features as it went along, not changing the past features much. What I'm saying is is that it's not right to compare the building aspects of both games. Minecraft is survival, build your house, make it fancy if you wish, while FC is build a fancy house. See where I'm going here? It's like saying Battlefield is more realistic than the Halo series, you jump so high with a armor suit that weighs a ton. Halo is not going for the "realism" factor but more of a fun factor. Now please DO NOT take this as an insult I played FC and it is a fairly decent game, just understand where I am coming from. Also, those screenshots do not help your cause at all, comparing computer generated villages and then structures built in a game FOCUSED on building is not right. It's like saying I can build a better house in Sims 3, if I tried to build it in Minecraft, it would suck. Thank you for reading, and please only take this as criticism and not an insult.
You dont have to survive in minecraft.
you can go on creative and build things.
Minecraft is lego with limited number of blocks: you can build many beutiful things with restrictions and it doesnt take out the creativity or imagination, it bolsters them.
Fortresscraft is like playing lego as the spoiled kid of the owner of the lego company: you can make any block you want, and althrough its nice and all, it takes the fun away.
What i really dislike about fortresscraft is its fandom.

People are just so unoriginal these days.
That's why I <3 most old movies. Better storyline but bad visual graphics. Today's movies have better visual graphics but stupid storyline.
What does this have to do with the topic?

Thus saying that the creator of Fortresscraft is unoriginal and I'm also saying that most authors,directors/producers,and cideo game creators have 0 imagination.
And then again my ending was off-topic. I just went on blabbing about stuff...Let me just edit that out.

Right... Firstly, Fortresscrafts gameplay is completely different, but also, by your logic every game is a rip-off of something else.

He has a valid, if irrelevant point. 99.9% of what you see, play, and hear *is* unoriginal; it's based on the thousands of years of human culture, and tends to vary from previous incarnations by only a tiny degree (point in case, Minecraft has literally zero original features; that doesn't by any means make it BAD)
However, he's missed the important point; it's the differences between games that are important, not the similarities.
I know, that's basically what I was saying (except much more in-depth).

Does not compute into my brain.
I can find a bunch of original features.
For example, have you seen a game that has an green, armless monster that blows up in ANY other game.I didn't think so.
EDIT:
I just found something unoriginal from FortressCraft.com Content Patch 10
- Fixes for Spleef Mode
- Exiting Spleef always rebuilds
- Fixed Spleef stalemate under poor load conditions
- Fixed Spleef block falling animation
Now which game is has more unoriginal features?
Spleef was a Minecrafter's idea. So,that perfectly means that FortressCraft just "borrowed" another thing from Minecraft like how they "borrowed" a lot of other features and ideas from Minecraft.
Now, lets list what Minecraft 'Borrowed' as well, shall we?
Dragons (I doubt that's original)
Crafting
Building with Voxals
zombies
Weapon enchantemnts
Endermen (Slenderman creepy pasta clone)
Hunger bar
Some form of a creative mode
Minning
Farming
Gathering resources
Pets
Biomes
Writing books
Voxel game look
Also not to mention that the game was based around other games to make what it is now?
And the list goes on....
What I am trying to say is both games have taken very good ideas from other games, books and other sources to create there own game, Bilzzard have been doing it for years and other game companys. So what if FC did take a USER (Not Mojang) created mini game and added into his game, Minecraft have been doing this as well...
Hmmm...
I will make part of your list invalid now:
-Name another game (besides Infiniminer) made before May 13,2009 that involves creating stuff with blocks and gathering resources FREELY (in almost every game, you collect resources, but in Minecraft, you gather them FREELY.)
-In Minecraft you mine FREELY,choosing where, when, and what to mine.
-In Minecraft, you farm FREELY,choosing where, when, and what to farm. (Technically, you have a given spot where to farm in your given land. But in PC Minecraft you have a metaphorically infinite world. I know it's not really infinite, but it's pretty much like an infinite world.)
-At least we have a choice to play on survival, creative, hardcore, and adventure modes.
-Minecraft is based on Infiniminer and RubyDung are the only two games that gave Notch the idea of Minecraft.PROOF:Click this link!
But still,I know Notch and Mojang have borrowed some ideas from other sources, but a good amount of Minecraft is original.

No very little of Minecraft is actually original, don't get me wrong, I love Minecraft, but it's really not that original.
-Firstly, Infiniminer is another game. You saying 'besides Infiniminer' just makes you look like a whiny fanboy, it's like me saying 'name me another game that's similar to CoD (besides Battlefield, Halo, DOOM, Wolfenstien, Medal of Honour, etc). See it just doesn't work.
-Mining freely? Again, Infiniminer.
-Farming freely isn't an argument for originality. It's not a big, advertise-able feature, it's just a by-product of this gameplay type.
-Gamemodes? Really? At least in Fortresscraft we have a choice to play creative, FPS, spleef, etc. But really, that's not an argument, the two use different gameplay types.
-Just so you know, Spleef is from Blockland/Tron, not Minecraft.
-Fortresscraft is based off, Infiniminer, Minecraft and Dwarf Fortress. Argument Invalid.
-Your statement about Creepers is just hilarious, nearly every action game has a kamikaze enemy-type, Minecraft didn't invent them. Same goes for every mob, I'll prove it.
-Pigs, cows, chickens, sheep and squid are real animals seen in a tonne of games, so they sure aren't original.
-Zombies? Oh, where have I seen them? Only... everywhere!
-Skeletons are in nearly every fantasy.
-Spiders are in nearly every fantasy.
-Endermen are just Slenderman clones, as 123guy said.
-Slimes are taken straight from various other fantasies and horror movies.
-Plant-based infections (mooshrooms) are seen in plenty of post-apocalyptic and sci-fi games. Halo and Gears of War, for example.
-Anthropomorphic people? Only in every fantasy and space-opera there is.
-Fire elementals? Again, everywhere.
-Ghasts are actually fairly unique.
-The wither is original in terms of design, but not function.
-Finding artefacts used to open a portal to another world to kill a great beast? Ever played Oblivion?
-All the other structures are also taken from Real-life.
P.S. If you know that Minecraft isn't completely original then why are you defending it?
