So im looking to make some Gaming commentaries on YouTube, but instead of doing your average cut&paste Lets Play, I thought I would for a Niche community.
So what type of videos do you not see enough of/would like to see?
Well, the twelve year olds that take up a large chunk of the people who watch Let's Plays will go f*cking nuts if you have a girl in yours.
But other than that, dual commentaries. Always.
However, the most important thing to have when wanting to become popular is simply dumb luck. There are tons of people out there who aren't funny yet people still love them.
I was thinking dual commentaries.
I do have a steam buddy whos a girl, doubt she wants to make videos xP
And you need any accent that's not American after that everything you say regardless of how serious will be taken to the utmost of hilarity. Total biscuit Yogscast, case closed.

Yeah, lol, almost forgot about that. Seriously, if you learn how to do a British accent perfectly, you'll do f*cking great.

Americans like listening to brits.
Americans like listening to americans.

Accent/Nationality doesnt mean anything.
I didn't say anything about nationality. You see, I'm an American yet I have many friends that are "Brits" so much so that I can almost mimic there accent down to the mispronunciation of words. XD but don't fake an accent just be yourself and get yourself a friend who you can talk with for hours about nothing. You'll get there.

Also yeah I think accents are great lol. Just saying.
i'll watch pretty much anyone on YT who tries to do the game without flying through it, take the time to do side quests (if the game has em) or just explore EVERYTHING, if i wanted to see the guy beat the game in like 4 episodes of a lets play i'd just watch a walkthrough.
(also making it funny when possible is a huge plus)
2.Ditch the girl idea. Just a bad idea for a male/female. Not many reasons why except what you already mentioned, you don't •closely know any females. I'm not sexist. However as a funny commentary you will be appealing mainly to 11-19 yo guys.( I know that seems like a reason to have a girl, it's not.)
Sorry I'm super tired, what I'm saying is probably jumbled bs, but it's advice.

Heres the sad thing.
I love exploring my games and talking to everybody, but every Lets Play is just pushed down to the bottom of socalled "Lets Play" Well. Meaning, If I were to make a lets play of Skyrim, no one would watch it because there are 1000s upon 1000s of Skyrim lets plays.
Im going for somewhat of a niche thing. What do I mean? Look at Totalbiscuits WTF Is... series. This is what I call a niche video series because its... DIFFERENT! First Impression Reviews are something that 0.1% of all YouTubers make. Now I know what you're thinking, "So... Just make First Impressions videos!"
I cant.
Im not rich and am in Highschool. I cannot aquire 1000s of games with a snap of a finger to review for somebody and then throw away that game afterwords to never play it again.

Listen man.... I'm not you I can't tell you what you should do... But do what you feel. Then once you get some subscribers, which you will you listen to them. Hear what they want let them know you value their opinion about what you do. And be funny.

I can't speak for anyone else, but when I watch gameplay commentaries I'm usually not actually watching them so much as listening to them. Its something to listen to when I'm not in the mood for music while I do something in another window (such as building stuff in Minecraft). Engage in constant funny and/or interesting dialogue and/or conversation to keep your viewers' attention.

Well played, sir.
That's what I'm talking about! I play around online all the time sometimes when I'm playing a game like minecraft il put on a video in the background. Occasionally i'll look back at the video in the other window.
There! That what we are lookin at right now! Why do I go back? Because the video has sparked my interest somehow, said something that made me want to actually see it. That's what videos need. You deliver that and people will always come back to watch more.

So yeah if th game has unspoken dialogue you could say it funnylike and if you mess up laugh about it and don't worry. Sometimes it's funnier when the people in a video laugh. Be clear. Be random.
Always check your sorroundings as far as you can see. Unless you are mlg pro no one cares how good or bad you play. It's what you do....
I'm gonna watch your' videos later really eager to see them.
