In december, the most powerfull solar storm since before electricity will occur, shortcutting the entire earth, forcing us to live without electricity for up to 6 months. This is really bad, since, to take an example, the West-European civilication would collapse if left without electricity for about 4 secounds.
I'd be fine with no wireless communications but electricity... not as much, but then again the governments would be onto repairing the electric grids rather swiftly wouldn't you agree?
They would try, but that's a pretty big grid to fix all at once, especially with limited communications. Getting the parts to rebuild would be expensive due to high demand and manufacturing difficulties, as well.
Improvements can be made to prevent damage to the grid. That, or we can hope that we don't get hit with a huge CME, or that damage is localized to small areas, should one hit.
I think that the worst-case is possible, but unlikely. We just had a solar storm a few months ago, relatively large, and the only effect was that the Aurora was visible further south. No satellite damage, no radio issues (as far as I know), and definitely no blackouts.
It will be whatever it is planned to be and no one will know until it happens. Although some people would disagree on whether it would happen but thinking that would contradict what I just said. Oh well. It happens lol XD
Toehoe is the game where little hoes shoot toes. Get it? Haha yeah....
Well, according to the Mayan calender, this IS the year.

Exactly.
2013 better than 2014? pffft you're crazy man
There will be epic northern lights, though.
And you thought the end of the world was a tragedy.
Then 10 more Fast & Furious sequels.

Only the prepared people. A lot of people don't like to think about that.

As far as I know, a worst-case scenario for a solar storm would destroy satellites and radio reception, as well as knock out electricity grids.
Yes of course. We've got one in our cottage, about 15 minutes away with snow scooter. We'll be safe.
